I got the idea for this after recently getting a review for my Gundam Wing story, Walking On Glass. At the time I wrote it back in November 2001, I thought it was pretty good.

Now it makes me cringe and ask myself, "What the hell was I thinking?"

In the story Duo never actually saw blood, though he expected to see it the first time he tried walking on his new human feet. But every step he took felt like he was walking on shards of broken glass, thus the title.

My Internet access died this morning for some unknown reason, which allowed me time to work on some ArtRage stuff without the constant urge to check my e-mail, etc. Still... I'm glad it's working again because I depend more on the Internet than anything else to keep track of my finances, pay bills, and keep in touch with people.

Yes, I am an Internet addict. *sigh*

It took me five hours today just to get the details in the background done - couch, floor, rugs. Yeah. TIME SUCKER!!!

Anyway. The portrait of Jensen Ackles that I did following Dali's tutorial on the ArtRage forums is as finished as it's going to get. I'm afraid that I'll mess it up if I keep tweaking it. Best to know when to leave it alone, you know? I'm still not 100% happy with his lips, or his hair... but... *shrug*

Done in ArtRage 2.5 - drawn with pencil and colored entirely in airbrush.

I bet you guys are getting sick of me posting these, aren't you?

Don't worry, it might be a little while before I do anything else. Earlier the program was working fine, but a little while ago I opened it to work on some WIPs and it won't let me paint! It just moves the canvas around! AHH!

I definitely need to work on faces because I am not really happy with this one. But I'm tired of messing with it. So, in the future, faces. Because practice makes, if not perfect, then at least better. haha

EDIT: Monday, March 23rd

Remember when I said I was finished with this? Well... I lied.

God, I have no patience with technical thingies apparently. If it's not pretty damn straight forward or come with a For Dummies book, I get so mad when trying to figure things out.

Take for instance the screaming fit I had trying to figure out how to upload pictures from my digital camera onto the computer. I feel kind of embarrassed admitting it, but I usually have my youngest sister help me because I'm no good at doing it myself.

I would have asked her for help today, but she was in her room sleeping and if you try to wake her up she becomes bitch-zilla. No kidding, you take your life into your own hands if you try. Figuring that if she managed to do it, I could to, I gave it a whirl... and now I have a headache from all the yelling I did and my throat hurts.

But I got the pictures uploaded... just don't ask me to repeat the process any time soon.

I kind of feel the same way about that tablet I bought. I get so angry trying to use it, that I just stopped using it altogether and use the mouse because drawing is supposed to be about relaxing, not getting wild-eyed and upset. So now I just use a good old fashioned sketchbook and pencil - and then scream myself hoarse trying to upload it. haha. Technology sucks sometimes, really.

Anyway, I want to try coloring this sketch in ArtRage. But here's a photo of the original sketch.

(And yes, [ profile] not_cynical was right, I need to get a scanner... but I don't have the money right now. Maybe after I file my taxes.)

You think I would have learned my lesson and do the background first, but NO! Oh well, it's finished now. No more tweaking for me.

OMG! I just looked at the clock and it's 6 o'clock! I've been working on this painting since I woke up. Well, it's done now and I need to get laundry, dishes, etc., done.

I love visiting the ArtRage forums - there are so many fantastic artists! Someday I hope my work is even a tenth as good as the masterpieces I've seen posted there.

Today, I visited the abstract thread in the Art Project section and was amazed at some of the work there. I don't consider myself to be an abstract art admirer, but there were plenty of pictures I would love to see hanging on my wall. Wow.

I don't feel (very) guilty about wasting time using this program because

1) It has already proven itself to be a fun and creative pastime and

2) When the kids get home after school, they'll be bugging me to get on the computer. This is ME time right now - time to relax and enjoy myself before having to go back to work tomorrow.

I thought I'd try my hand at one as well. You know, monkey see, monkey do. *^-^*

This is the current picture I'm working on. It doesn't look like much, yet, but I hope to have it looking a lot better as things progress. But right now, it's almost 3:30am and I need to go to sleep.

Personally, I think it will be a LONG time before I'm able to get paintings looking even half-way realistic. But it's a goal to aim for. *^-^*

This was an earlier version of my dandelion picture, before I messed it up. I like this one better, even though it isn't finished.

I messed up somehow on the layers so I had to chalk the background in by hand. In addition to that, it didn't size correctly and the finished product cut off the heads of my dandelions. *cries*
