I'm missing Silky something fierce right now. Normally I'd have her sitting on my shoulder as I check my email and mess around on the computer. I miss her small, warm weight on my shoulder and the sounds of her grinding her teeth in contentment.

I remember the first time I saw Silky boggling, I thought something was wrong with her. haha. But apparently it's a sign of happiness. It's usually accompanied by bruxing (when they grind their teeth together - kind of like cats purring - is a good thing... usuallly.) She always did it when I was holding her and stroking her head. At least my baby was happy.

Okay, I know I told myself that any extra money I had left over after paying bills would be spent responsibly... and yet, I bought an iPod shuffle. It's really, really tiny. And it's supposed to hold up to 200+ songs. In other words, way more than I have on my computer right now.

(I lost a great deal of music when my other computer crashed in December 2007. Woe.)

Since it was $45 I didn't break the bank, but now I'm looking at the instructions and I need to download iTunes? Does this mean I can't download music I already have on Windows Media Player? If so, that suck donkey balls.

Seriously.

Oh well, I'll figure it out somehow. And then I'll have portable music. Yay! And I won't have to take CDs to Taco Johns to listen to while I close. I don't trust my fellow employees with them. I accidentally left Dracula: Entre L'Amour et la Mort on Sunday and when I got it back the next day, it was scratched up and many of the songs now skip.

Bastards. Do you know how much that CD cost? It's not like I can just pop down to WalMart and get another one. *GRRR*

I got the idea for this after recently getting a review for my Gundam Wing story, Walking On Glass. At the time I wrote it back in November 2001, I thought it was pretty good.

Now it makes me cringe and ask myself, "What the hell was I thinking?"

In the story Duo never actually saw blood, though he expected to see it the first time he tried walking on his new human feet. But every step he took felt like he was walking on shards of broken glass, thus the title.

I am not at all worried about swine flu. Personally, I think people are getting hysterical about nothing. The every-day-run-of-the-mill flu kills 36,000 people a year and I don't see people freaking out about that. It's just the media blowing things out of proportion.

Wash your hands frequently and cover your mouth/nose when you sneeze or cough. And NOT into your hands, use your elbow or shoulder otherwise you'll be spreading your germs right, left and center every time you touch something.

And stop freaking out. Jeez.

You know what, I never thought I'd hear a Josh Groban song that I didn't really care for. But now I have.

He sings a duet with Charles Aznavour - La Boheme - but after listening to both the English and French versions, I have to say I like the French one better... But really, I don't like either version well enough to buy, which is what surprised me. It's not Josh Groban's singing that turns me off, it's Charles Aznavour's.

I know I should have gone to bed a long time ago, but I wanted to finish watching Jodhaa Akbar. I'm rather fond of movies that take place in the long-ago-far-away regardless of the culture. Unfortunately, it's a three and a half hour movie and I didn't get to finish it before going to work.

I may have to hunt down the soundtrack. *^-^*

I still can't log into my e-mail accounts, and I can't log on to other sites including netflix, youtube, and any sites I use in online bill paying. So if you don't hear from me for a while, it probably means I can't log in on LJ, either.

I don't know if the problem is with my computer or the internet. If it's my computer than it will be a while before I can get it fixed and/or replaced. I hope it's just the internet that's being screwy. Hopefully the problem will be resolved... eventually.

For the past six months I've had Friday nights off at Taco John's, so, when I realized that Shirley's birthday party would fall on a Friday, I didn't worry... and didn't ask for it off because, hey, I was always off on Friday nights.

Well, it just so happens that tonight was the first time in a long time that they scheduled me to work on a Friday. The problem is that I had to work 6pm to 12:30am. And we were busy as hell! So... I missed the party.

*sigh*

So when I got home I had some cake and a few chips with cheese dip... and Pepsi. Can't forget the Pepsi. No Diet, but oh well. I'll have to stop at the store tomorrow so I can get her birthday money. I can't use ATMs because Margo chewed the edge of my debit card.

I didn't forget, I've just been really busy. And tired.

I've known [livejournal.com profile] trowacko the longest, definitely. (My twin, [livejournal.com profile] osami_marie doesn't count in the friend category even though we were 'womb' mates.) I remember reading and admiring [livejournal.com profile] trowacko's work on Infinity Base back when I started posting GW fanfiction back in the autumn of 2001. Then I learned about Gundam Wing Addiction and met a whole slew of talented GW writers. Eventually I made my way to LiveJournal in 2004.

I knew [livejournal.com profile] kageotogi from that time as well, though I didn't know it because she went by Hawk Cloud on the GWA boards.

Gee, it's been a long time since I've moved on from the GW fandom. I wonder if GWA is still around? Or even active? I know Infinity Base went down a couple of years ago...

I can't say I really miss the GW fandom, if I am to be completely honest, but I do miss a few of the people, even if I was never a terribly chatty individual. There were some damned fine artists and writers on that site. They've scattered to various fandoms, I'm sure, but no doubt a few still write for GW.

Mom ordered a CD with Chris' graduation photos! My sw'um's graduation ceremony is on May 19th. Wow, time sure does fly...
I'm uploading them here because I trust LJ to keep them safe more than I trust my computer, which is acting strange.

Number 02 and 12 are my favorites. In 02 Chris is with all of the musical instruments he's played in high school - tenor sax, bari sax and bassoon. Mom likes 02 better than 01 or 03 because she says they make him look like he has snakes draped all over his body. haha. She watched part of Snakes on a Plane the other day and has snakes on the brain, that's all.

Although 12 is a bit dark, I prefer the black or marbled backgrounds to the white ones because they look better against his pale skin. At least, that's my personal opinion.

Last week, Mom took the kids to the zoo. I wish I could have gone, but I've used up all my vacation for the year. *sigh*
So, here are some pictures Shirley took. I'm surprised Chris let her take a picture because he usually doesn't let us get anywhere near him with a camera.

I got off work from Taco John's early today and decided to get something to eat before coming home. The TV was set on the History Channel and some show called Monster Quest was on. Apparently they were looking for proof that the Loch Ness monster lived or died in the lake.

Now, Urquhart Castle is located near Loch Ness and Orcot is a derivative of the surname Urquhart. *grin* Now, I'm sure you know where I'm heading with this.

Anyway, while watching, I got a glimmer, and like the fabled Nessie of Loch Ness, it was vague, ill-formed, but definitely there. The sheer vagueness of this idea isn't the problem. The problem is that I don't have the time or inclination to start yet another PSoH story until I finish The Hunted and maybe even Man-Eater. But I want to write it down just in case.

This is all I have so far:

Leon has been having strange dreams and after a lot of hemming and hawing, he talks to D about it. D tells him that somehow the Loch Ness monster is calling out to him because of a promise made to the monster centuries ago by one of Leon's ancestors. So it's off to Scotland for Leon, with D in tow, of course, to solve the mystery.

Yeah, that's it. Vague doesn't even do it credit.

Ah, maybe someday...

HEIDI! HEIDI! Check this out! There is a new CD out - Amore Infinito: Songs inspired by the Poetry of John Paul II and although it has only one song sung by Josh Groban and one by Andrea Bocelli, I think it might very well be worth buying. I'm not familiar with the singer Josh preforms his duet with, but I wouldn't mind listening to more of his work.

I ♥ Josh Groban! And Andrea Bocelli! And although I think you may enjoy their more contemporary songs to the classical bits, you may like this one. And if you don't, well, at least you didn't have to fork over any money for one song.

But if you DO like it, I could burn you a copy once I have the money to get my own. Or at least the Josh Groban one.

My Internet access died this morning for some unknown reason, which allowed me time to work on some ArtRage stuff without the constant urge to check my e-mail, etc. Still... I'm glad it's working again because I depend more on the Internet than anything else to keep track of my finances, pay bills, and keep in touch with people.

Yes, I am an Internet addict. *sigh*

It took me five hours today just to get the details in the background done - couch, floor, rugs. Yeah. TIME SUCKER!!!

Anyway. The portrait of Jensen Ackles that I did following Dali's tutorial on the ArtRage forums is as finished as it's going to get. I'm afraid that I'll mess it up if I keep tweaking it. Best to know when to leave it alone, you know? I'm still not 100% happy with his lips, or his hair... but... *shrug*
