Remember this? I posted it awhile ago but I'm bored so I thought I'd give it another shot.

Find the fifth (complete) sentence.
Post the text of the sentence in your journal...along with these instructions.
Okay, here is the general idea: Follow the instructions above. Once you have written down the fifth (complete) sentence, think. Use that sentence to start a story, a poem, or an essay, whatever it inspires you to write. See where it leads you. But it must be at least 100 words in length.
"You know, pathways in the walls."
Dean Koontz, The Face
"You know, pathways in the walls."
Jill, who hadn't been paying any attention to the conversation, turned her head so that she was staring at her youngest brother. "What the Hell are you talking about, Matthew?"
"Secret passages." He exclaimed, throwing his arms wide in an attempt at dramatic flare. The oversized army green tee shirt he always wore drooped down his skinny shoulder and he pulled it back into place absently.
"Where?"
"In Grandma's house."
Jill snorted derisively and returned her attention to the romance novel propped open before her on the bed. "That's bullshit."
Absently she pushed her wire frame glasses up the bridge of her nose. Silence lingered for a while but there was no opening and shutting of the door to indicate that her brother had left. She had always held the belief that if she ignored him long enough he would just go away. It never worked though, the boy simply could not take a hint. Annoyed, she cut a sideways glace at Matt, who was still straddling her desk chair, staring at her.
"And your still in my room because... why?"
"Cause I'm bored and there's no one else to talk to."
"No excuse." She groused. "Get out."
"Jillian!" Matt whined, "Come on! Aren't you just the least bit curious?"
"No."
"But there are secret passages!" Matt insisted, his large brown eyes pleading with her. "If we explore them, we could find all kinds of neat stuff."
"Yeah, like dust and spiders and cobwebs. Eww! No thank you."
"Secret treasures!" Matt came over to the bed and plopped down besides her. Without thinking she scooted to the side to give him more room.
"Right, whatever."
"You've no imagination." Matt sighed, stretching out on his stomach. He crossed his arms in front of him and laid his head to rest on them.
"And you have too much," Jill countered sharply.
"Yeah... I guess..."
Jill sat up, set her paperback aside, and tugged at the hem of her red tank top. She just couldn't stand to see her brother mope around like a lost puppy. Besides, it wasn't as if she had anything better to do. Or anyone else to talk to.
"Tell you what. I'll come with you if you promise to help me finish weeding the garden later." She stuck her arm out, hand extended. "Deal?"
Matt scrambled to his knees, a large goofy grin on his face. He grabbed his sister's hand and pumped it enthusiastically. "Sure! You won't regret it, sis. I promise!"
"Oh, I doubt that." She muttered under her breath as she followed Matt out of the room.

Hmm. I kind of liked this. I'm not saying I'll ever make this something longer, but it was a pleasant way to kill some time and I actually wrote something. *^-^* Always a good thing.
