“More tea, Detective?”
“Sure,” Leon replied absently. His eyes wandered to the antique grandfather clock and his brow furrowed as he mentally figured the difference in time zones between the East and West coast.
“Thinking of Chris?” D asked, sitting across from Leon. He sipped his tea nonchalantly, but his eyes, too, went to the clock.
“It’s his first day of school,” Leon confided. “And I can’t be there with him.”
D reached out and covered Leon’s hand with his own. “He’ll be just fine. Children usually are.
“Yeah, I know,” Leon replied sheepishly, “But I can’t help but worry.”
