The incoming waves struck the rocky beach with the crash of oceanic thunder. High tide was nigh, and D decided it was time for them to return home.

“Look at the bird!” Chris exclaimed, pointing.

“It’s a white crane,” D replied, “symbol of peace, love, and longevity.”

The crane danced its way gracefully along the rocky shore and soon a smaller one appeared at its side.

“It’s got a baby,” Chris marveled. “They’re so pretty.”

D nodded in agreement, smiled, and took Chris’ hand. Together they watched the mother and child, enchanted, until the incoming waves forced them to retreat.

Lovely drabble! And I love cranes--they're so beautiful, and I love the Japanese folk tales about cranes who turn into beautiful women. Hmm...wonder if D has one at his shop? ;)

Thanks! And yes, I think they are beautiful and I wouldn't doubt it if D had a few in his shop. *^-^*

I wasn't sure what to write so I first did a google search for inspiration then eventually went to youtube. The video below was what ultimately inspired the drabble.
